St. Catharines Celebrates Canada Day and 150 Years with a Full Day of Family Fun and Live Music

St. Catharines is preparing for an unforgettable Canada Day celebration as the city marks a significant milestone—its 150th anniversary. On July 1, 2026, residents and visitors are invited to gather at Montebello Park for a free day-long festival filled with live entertainment, family-friendly activities, local food and a spectacular evening finale.

Presented in partnership with the Cicada Music and Arts Festival, with support from Heritage Canada and Experience Ontario, the event promises to bring together the community in a vibrant celebration of Canadian pride and local history.

A Day of Family Fun

Festivities begin at noon, with family programming running until 4 p.m. Children and families will find plenty to enjoy throughout the park, including a lively Bubble Zone, a refreshing Foam Party, and super-sized inflatable games designed for all ages.

Young visitors can also meet beloved characters including Jessie, Woody, Rex and Buzz Lightyear, while a strolling magician adds an element of surprise and wonder throughout the afternoon. A life-sized LEGO lounge will provide a creative space for building and play, while Fire Prevention Services will host engaging educational activities.

The event will also feature a collaborative community art project and live painting demonstrations, encouraging attendees to contribute to a shared artistic celebration of St. Catharines’ milestone year.

Music from Noon Until Night

Live entertainment takes centre stage from noon to 10 p.m., showcasing an impressive lineup of Canadian talent and local favourites.

Headlining the celebration are acclaimed rock band The Trews, known for their energetic performances and chart-topping hits. Festival-goers can also enjoy performances by Sully Burrows, Julianna Riolino, Thuds, The Mountain Man, and the popular Tragically Hip tribute act Strictly Hip.

Adding a community touch to the programme are performances by the Lincoln and Welland Regiment Band and family favourite Rockin’ Time with Mr. Rob and Friends, ensuring entertainment for audiences of every age.

Food, Drinks and Local Flavours

Throughout the day, visitors can sample offerings from a variety of local food trucks and enjoy craft beverages while exploring the festival grounds. The STC 150 merchandise tent will also offer commemorative souvenirs celebrating the city’s sesquicentennial year.

The combination of live music, interactive attractions, local cuisine and community engagement creates an atmosphere that reflects the spirit and diversity of St. Catharines.

Drone and Fireworks Spectacular

The celebration concludes with the STC 150 & Canada Day Drone and Firework Show beginning at 10 p.m. The official viewing area will be located at Rennie Park, where spectators can enjoy a dazzling display lighting up the night sky in honour of both Canada Day and the city’s 150th anniversary.
