AFROFEST Toronto, a Weekend of Music and Culture

AFROFEST 2026 Returns to Woodbine Beach Park for a Weekend of Music and Culture

July 10 – 12, 2026
Woodbine Beach Park, Toronto

From July 10 to July 12, 2026, AFROFEST returns to Woodbine Beach Park for three vibrant days of music, dance and cultural exchange. Presented by Music Africa of Canada Inc., the festival is recognised as the largest free African music festival in North America and remains a cornerstone of Toronto’s summer events calendar.

Each July, thousands gather along the city’s eastern waterfront to celebrate the richness and diversity of African heritage. What began decades ago as a community-driven initiative has grown into a major cultural attraction, welcoming audiences from across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.

Sounds of the Continent and the Diaspora

AFROFEST 2026 will once again showcase an expansive musical line-up featuring artists from across Africa and the global diaspora. Festival-goers can expect a lively blend of Afrobeats, highlife, reggae, hip-hop, jazz and traditional rhythms, reflecting both contemporary trends and time-honoured sounds.

The programming traditionally balances internationally acclaimed performers with emerging Canadian talent, creating space for discovery alongside established favourites. Across multiple stages, audiences will experience high-energy concerts, dance showcases and collaborative performances that keep the shoreline buzzing well into the evening.

Beyond the Main Stage

While music is at the heart of AFROFEST, the event extends far beyond live concerts. Visitors can take part in cultural workshops, dance demonstrations and interactive drum circles, offering hands-on ways to engage with artistic traditions. Fashion presentations and visual art installations further highlight the creativity shaping African and diasporic communities today.

A bustling marketplace features artisans and vendors offering handcrafted jewellery, textiles, clothing and home décor, alongside a wide selection of African and Caribbean cuisine. Family-friendly programming ensures children can enjoy dedicated activities, making the festival an inclusive destination for all ages.

A Cultural Anchor for Toronto

Over the years, AFROFEST has drawn crowds reaching well into the tens of thousands, cementing its status as a marquee summer gathering. Its move to Woodbine Beach Park has allowed the festival to expand while maintaining its welcoming, community-focused atmosphere.

More than entertainment, AFROFEST provides a vital platform for artists and cultural practitioners, fostering dialogue and understanding across diverse audiences. By bringing together music, food, art and storytelling in one accessible space, the festival continues to strengthen connections within Toronto’s multicultural landscape.

As July approaches, AFROFEST 2026 promises another informative, engaging and joy-filled weekend by the lake — a celebration of heritage, creativity and unity that remains a must-see highlight of the season.
