Celebrating Canada, Loud and Proud in Ottawa

The Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister responsible for Official Languages, has officially unveiled the vibrant program for Canada Day 2025. This year’s celebrations invite Canadians to come together in a spirited display of national unity, culture, and pride.

“The July 1 festivities will allow us to celebrate our unity and express our national pride, while affirming our sovereignty, our identity and our culture,” stated the Department of Canadian Heritage. “More than ever, this year is the perfect opportunity to wave our flag proudly and show the world what makes the True North strong and free.”

National Noon Ceremony

The festivities officially kick off at 12 p.m. Eastern Time with the National Noon Ceremony at LeBreton Flats Park in Ottawa. Broadcast live on CBC, Radio-Canada, and their digital platforms, the event will feature speeches and musical performances from celebrated Canadian artists. The lineup includes Amanda Marshall, Garou, pianist Thompson Egbo-Egbo, Rafaëlle Roy, and country-pop singer Alli Walker. The ceremony will be hosted by beloved Canadian media personality Sonia Benezra.

Canada Day Evening Show

From 8 to 10 p.m. E.T., the energy builds with the Canada Day 2025 Evening Show, a spectacular live concert at LeBreton Flats. Hosted by Isabelle Racicot and broadcast nationwide on CBC/Radio-Canada platforms, the show promises unforgettable performances from legendary and emerging Canadian talent.

Performing live from Ottawa are Sarah McLachlan, Cœur de pirate, Josh Ross, Tom Cochrane, Mitsou, Amanda Marshall, Roch Voisine, Randy Bachman, Édith Butler, TALK, Fredz, Aasiva, and Muzion. Also featured are Dumas & Ivan Boivin-Flamand, Morgan Grace, and Billie du Page.

Special segments from across the country will highlight artists performing live in other cities. Blue Rodeo will take the stage in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Vancouver will spotlight Alex Wells and Dear Rouge, while Yellowknife will feature Crook the Kid and Brenda Montana.

Audiences can also expect special appearances by Jeff Douglas, Katherine Levac, Les Sœurs Bégin, and Enola Bedard.

The show will culminate with the Tim Hortons Canada Day Fireworks, an awe-inspiring display lighting up the Ottawa-Gatineau sky and bringing the day’s celebrations to a dazzling close.

Celebrating Canada, Loud and Proud in Ottawa

The O Canada! Station

To highlight personal expressions of national pride, Canadians are invited to record short videos sharing what makes them proud to be Canadian. These videos can be created at the O Canada! Station website or at special recording booths set up in major VIA Rail stations across the country.

Some selected videos will be featured during the national Canada Day Evening Show broadcast. Additionally, each video submitted qualifies eligible participants for a chance to win a VIA Rail trip, adding extra excitement to the nationwide celebration.
