Port Credit Memorial Park. Mississauga

On September 7, 2025, the picturesque Port Credit Memorial Park in Mississauga will transform into a stage of pride and celebration for the 2025 Mississauga Music Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony. Taking place at the Gazebo Stage and beginning at 11:00 am ET, the annual event is free to attend and warmly welcomes the community to witness the unveiling of the city’s newest honourees.

This year’s ceremony will celebrate Donna Grantis and Triumph, two acts whose careers embody both international acclaim and local roots. Their induction underscores Mississauga’s role as a nurturing ground for world-class musical talent.

Donna Grantis: Guitar Virtuoso with Global Reach

Born and raised in Applewood Heights, Donna Grantis rose from local stages to international renown through her collaboration with the late Prince. As co-lead electric guitarist for his all-female funk-rock trio 3RDEYEGIRL, Grantis co-wrote the title track of the album PLECTRUMELECTRUM, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Rock Chart in 2014.

Her artistry shone in unforgettable live performances, from an electrifying eight-minute jam on Saturday Night Live to centre-stage moments at the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Essence Festival at the New Orleans Superdome. One of her career highlights was performing at the White House for President Barack Obama and his family—an extraordinary recognition of her talent and artistry. Beyond her work with Prince, Grantis has continued to compose, collaborate and inspire new generations of musicians, making her induction a point of pride for Mississauga.

Triumph: Arena Rock Icons

Also stepping into the Walk of Fame is Triumph, one of Canada’s most successful and enduring rock bands. Formed in the 1970s, the trio defined the sound of arena rock with soaring anthems, intricate guitar work and a message of empowerment. Their achievements include 25 Gold and Platinum awards across Canada and the United States, cementing their reputation as giants of rock.

A career-defining moment arrived in 1983 when Triumph co-headlined the historic US Festival in California, performing before a staggering crowd of nearly 500,000 fans. Their lasting influence has been celebrated through inductions into the Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry Hall of Fame, the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and the Metal Hall of Fame. In Mississauga, their legacy was further immortalised when a street was named “Triumph Lane.”

Honouring Mississauga’s Musical Heritage

The Mississauga Music Walk of Fame was established in 2012 by the late Councillor Jim Tovey as a lasting tribute to the city’s vibrant musical history. Each year, new inductees are honoured with granite plaques embedded in the walking path of Memorial Park, creating a permanent, accessible tribute for residents and visitors alike.

The 2025 Induction Ceremony promises heartfelt speeches, live music and an opportunity for fans to celebrate artists who have carried Mississauga’s name to international stages. It is a reminder of the city’s unique contribution to Canada’s cultural identity and a chance to unite the community in pride and appreciation.
