2026 Volta Luso Charities: Moving Forward Together for Inclusive Communities
July 26, 2026
Portuguese Cultural Centre of Mississauga and LIUNA Station
The 2026 Volta Luso Charities event is set to bring communities together once again in support of individuals living with disabilities and their families. Organised by the Luso Canadian Charitable Foundation, the annual fundraiser encourages participants to walk, run or cycle while raising awareness and support for inclusive programming across Peel and Hamilton.
Scheduled for July 26, 2026, the event has become one of the organisation’s most recognised community initiatives, drawing more than 1,000 participants each year. Rain or shine, families, volunteers, sponsors and supporters gather in a visible show of solidarity for those living with developmental and physical disabilities.
A Day Focused on Community and Inclusion
The theme “Moving Forward” reflects the event’s emphasis on progress, accessibility and community support. Participants can choose between locations in Hamilton or Mississauga, allowing supporters from across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area to take part close to home. Registration for the event is free, making it accessible to individuals and families of all ages and abilities. (
Throughout the day, attendees can expect a welcoming atmosphere filled with encouragement, community spirit and activities designed to unite participants around a shared cause. The event continues to grow as more residents and businesses rally behind Luso’s mission.
Supporting Families Across Ontario
For more than two decades, the Luso Canadian Charitable Society has provided programmes and services for individuals living with developmental and physical disabilities. The organisation operates centres in Toronto, Peel and Hamilton, offering life skills training, respite care, community integration opportunities, creative arts programmes and wellness activities.
Because the organisation does not receive ongoing government funding for many of its services, fundraising events such as Volta Luso Charities play a critical role in sustaining programmes and expanding support for families.
The organisation has also continued investing in long-term community projects, including supportive housing initiatives designed to provide safe and inclusive living environments for adults with disabilities.
Growing Awareness Through Action
Beyond fundraising, Volta Luso Charities also helps raise awareness about accessibility, inclusion and the importance of community support networks. Participants are encouraged to invite friends, relatives and colleagues to join the movement and help strengthen services for families who rely on Luso’s programmes every year.
With another strong turnout expected in 2026, the event continues to demonstrate how community-driven initiatives can create meaningful and lasting impact for individuals living with disabilities across Ontario.
