Rhinocéros
October 29 – November 8, 2026
An ordinary town is plunged into confusion when rhinoceroses begin appearing in the streets without warning. What initially seems like a strange curiosity quickly evolves into a disturbing social phenomenon as more and more residents abandon their former selves and join the growing herd. Left questioning the world around him is Bérenger, an unremarkable man determined to hold on to his humanity. Directed by Karine Ricard, this staging of Eugene Ionesco’s celebrated absurdist drama explores the seductive pull of conformity and the dangers of surrendering independent thought. Both humorous and unsettling, it remains a strikingly relevant reflection on society and individual responsibility.
Les Zinspiré.es 14
November 26 – December 11, 2026
Five fresh theatrical voices take centre stage in the latest edition of Les Zinspiré.es, an annual showcase that has become a cherished tradition at Théâtre français de Toronto. Drawn from a province-wide playwriting initiative, these original works offer a variety of perspectives and emotions, moving effortlessly between humour, reflection, and surprise. Under the direction of Danik McAfee, the production transforms these distinct stories into a cohesive and engaging theatrical experience. Performed by a professional cast, each piece highlights emerging talent while exploring themes that resonate with contemporary audiences. The result is a vibrant celebration of creativity, imagination, and the power of storytelling.

A diverse group of individuals, each facing their own challenges and milestones, discover their lives are connected in unexpected ways. A couple preparing to welcome a child, a selfless donor, a caregiver supporting people at the end of life, and an elder coping with memory loss become part of a larger story about connection and compassion. Created by Vincent Leblanc-Beaudoin, Os combines movement, poetry, puppetry, and multimedia elements to create a visually rich theatrical experience. Thoughtful and emotionally resonant, the production examines how people influence one another throughout life, revealing both the fragility and resilience that define the human experience.
Dimanche à Sodome (Sunday in Sodom)
History remembers her simply as Lot’s wife, but Sunday in Sodom offers a different perspective. Edith finally steps forward to tell her own story, challenging the version that has been repeated for generations. As the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah approaches, she reflects on the choices that shaped her fate and the emotions that compelled her to look back. Written by acclaimed Canadian playwright Jordan Tannahill, this award-winning work re-examines a familiar biblical narrative through a contemporary feminist lens. Exploring themes of love, memory, authority, and resistance, the play gives voice to a woman whose story has too often been left untold.
Le Téton Tardif
May 27 – 29, 2027
Le Téton Tardif invites audiences into a deeply personal exploration of womanhood, identity, and self-image. Through humour, honesty, and expressive performance, Caroline examines the role that physical appearance plays in shaping confidence and perception. Her story moves between light-hearted observations and more profound reflections, creating an engaging portrait of life in a culture heavily influenced by beauty standards and media expectations. Combining theatrical storytelling with movement and comedy, the production encourages audiences to reconsider assumptions about femininity and self-worth. Both intimate and relatable, it offers a thoughtful look at the challenges and triumphs of embracing one’s authentic self.
