Experience an engaging week of free history-themed activities at Fort York National Historic Site during this year’s March Break. From Saturday, March 14 to Sunday, March 22, 2026, the site opens its doors to visitors of all ages with a variety of drop-in programmes, guided tours and demonstrations that bring Toronto’s past to life.

What’s On

  • Drop-in outdoor activities: Enjoy craft-based and historical experiences that explore life at Fort York and showcase diverse cultural traditions.
  • Guided tours: Take part in short walking tours that run regularly throughout the day to learn about the fort’s military, cultural and social history.
  • Hands-on workshops: Try activities like food-based history experiences, music and archaeology pop-ups that highlight daily life from years past.
  • Historic kitchen experiences: Taste a cookie or sample baked goods inspired by the fort’s original 1826 kitchen. (Children’s baking workshops – Noon and 2 pm – require an additional fee of $5.00 + HST per child. Recommended age for the baking workshops is 6-12.)
  • Interactive exhibits: Explore colourful displays and multimedia presentations that tell the stories of those who built and defended early Toronto.

All activities run between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily through March Break, with tours typically scheduled throughout the afternoon.
