The CaribbeanTales International Film Festival (CTFF) returns in 2026 with a significant new collaboration that expands its international reach while continuing to celebrate Caribbean and diasporic storytelling. This year, CTFF and the Caribbean Film Festival (CFF) have joined forces for a landmark joint edition in Toronto titled Screen Share: Caribbean Stories, Collective Power.

Running from September 8–13, 2026, the collaborative festival will create a dynamic platform for filmmakers, actors, producers and audiences to connect through cinema, cultural dialogue and industry exchange. The event aims to strengthen links between Caribbean creatives and global film markets while introducing audiences to stories shaped by diverse Caribbean experiences.

A Landmark Collaboration for 2026

The partnership between CTFF and CFF marks an important moment for Caribbean cinema in Canada. By combining programming, professional development opportunities and audience engagement, Screen Share: Caribbean Stories, Collective Power is designed to broaden visibility for Caribbean filmmakers while encouraging collaboration across borders.

The Toronto-based event will welcome participants from across the Caribbean and the diaspora, creating opportunities for creators to share ideas, showcase projects and build international partnerships. Festival organisers describe the initiative as both a cultural celebration and an industry-focused gathering that highlights the growing influence of Caribbean storytelling worldwide.

The joint edition is expected to feature feature-length films, documentaries, short films and experimental works representing a wide range of perspectives and artistic styles.

Showcasing Caribbean and Diasporic Voices

At the centre of the festival remains a commitment to authentic storytelling. The CaribbeanTales International Film Festival has long championed underrepresented voices, providing space for stories exploring identity, migration, family, music, social change and cultural heritage.

The 2026 programme is expected to include productions from Canada, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Haiti and other Caribbean nations. Audiences will have the opportunity to experience narratives that reflect both contemporary Caribbean life and historical experiences connected to the region and its diaspora.

Many screenings will also include filmmaker discussions and audience conversations, offering insight into the creative process behind the films and encouraging meaningful cultural dialogue.

Industry Exchange and Creative Opportunities

In addition to public screenings, Screen Share will place a strong focus on industry development. Workshops, networking sessions and panel discussions are expected to bring together filmmakers, distributors, broadcasters and cultural organisations from multiple countries.

The festival’s industry programming will support emerging talent while helping established creators expand their professional networks and explore new financing and distribution opportunities. Discussions surrounding representation in film, independent production and international collaboration are also expected to form a key part of the event.
