October Harvest Festival 2026: A Celebration of Autumn at Forsythe Family Farms

Autumn in Ontario is a season of vibrant colours, crisp air and festive traditions, and one of the most anticipated fall celebrations in Durham Region is the October Harvest Festival at Forsythe Family Farms. Located at 1025 Cragg Road in Greenbank, just minutes from Uxbridge, this family-run farm welcomes visitors throughout October for pumpkin picking, farm adventures, seasonal activities and plenty of family fun.

The 2026 Harvest Festival takes place on select Saturdays and Sundays in October, with additional special programming on Thanksgiving Monday and other special guest days. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get outside, enjoy the countryside and celebrate the bounty of the autumn harvest.

The heart of the festival is the farm’s pumpkin season. Visitors can head into the pumpkin patch to pick their own or choose from a large selection of pre-picked pumpkins conveniently located near the farm market. Pumpkins are an additional cost and are not included with general admission.

Beyond pumpkin picking, families can spend the day exploring the farm’s many activities. Kids can run and play in the Barnyard Adventure playground, explore the Paddock Playground, visit the farm animals and tackle the corn maze. There is also a smaller cedar maze, a play train, scavenger hunts and the Tranquility Trail, a roughly 45-minute walk through the farm’s fields and countryside.

Autumn Adventures for All Ages

Forsythe Family Farms offers plenty of ways for families to enjoy the outdoors together. The farm’s animal areas provide opportunities to meet the resident animals and learn more about them through informative fact boards, while the playgrounds give children plenty of space to climb, run and explore.

For a more relaxed experience, take a wagon ride through the farm. Wagon rides run on weekends between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., weather permitting, and visitors are encouraged to arrive early so they don’t miss the final ride.

The Imagination Station also provides an indoor space where children can get creative with seasonal crafts, making it a useful stop if the weather turns chilly.

Special 2026 Festival Events

The 2026 October Harvest Festival includes several special events and guest appearances throughout the month.

• Thanksgiving Monday, October 12: Enjoy live music from Kassiani and Allison, two young local musicians who will perform fiddle music from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• October 17 and 18: Children’s book author Carolyn Morris of Railfence Books will be at the farm from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., sharing stories about countryside adventures and leading a creative craft activity for children.
• October 24, 25 and 31: Families can take part in the Pumpkin Carving Station, where visitors can carve a pumpkin purchased at the farm without having to deal with the mess at home. Basic carving tools and workspace are provided, and families can take their finished pumpkins home for Halloween.
• Sunday, October 25: The farm will celebrate its 16th annual Apple Cider Pressing Day. Visitors can watch the Geissberger brothers of Farmhouse Cider press fresh apples using their mobile cider unit, with the apples washed, crushed and pressed right on the trailer. Fresh cider is also available to take home.

Seasonal Flavours and Farm Freshness

A visit to Forsythe Family Farms wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the farm market, where visitors can find fresh seasonal produce, Ontario-grown apples, baked goods, preserves, pies and other farm-fresh treats.

Fall is an especially delicious time to visit, with pumpkins, apples and other harvest crops taking centre stage. Visitors can pick up fresh produce and seasonal goodies to enjoy at home after their day on the farm.

Regular Saturday and Sunday festival admission is $16 + HST per person ages 3 and up, with a Family of 5 Special for $70 + HST.

Special Guest Days on October 12, 17 and 18 are $17 + HST per person ages 3 and up, with a Family of 5 Special for $75 + HST.

The farm’s Farm ‘n’ Fun area closes to new admissions at 4 p.m., so visitors are encouraged to arrive early enough to enjoy the activities. Online booking is available, and the farm recommends booking ahead.

Forsythe Family Farms 2009 Inc. is located at 1025 Cragg Road, Greenbank, Ontario, approximately 10 minutes from Uxbridge and Port Perry and within about an hour’s drive northeast of Toronto.

The farm recommends dressing for the weather, including wearing boots after recent rain, as the countryside can be cooler and windier than expected. Good walking shoes or boots are also recommended for the Tranquility Trail, where terrain can be uneven.
