Haunted ROM Tour Explores the Museum’s Ghostly Side This Halloween

Toronto’s museums hold millions of stories—but according to local legend, some refuse to stay in the past.
This Halloween season, the Royal Ontario Museum invites visitors to discover its supernatural side during the Haunted ROM Tour, a guided one-hour experience exploring eerie tales, mysterious sightings and the hidden corners of one of Canada’s most celebrated cultural institutions. Designed for adults, families, teens and children ages eight and older, the tour offers a fascinating blend of history, storytelling and seasonal fun without becoming an intense haunted attraction.
Discover the Haunted History of ROM
Rather than relying on theatrical scares, the Haunted ROM Tour focuses on the legends and ghostly stories connected to the Museum itself.
Participants will walk through galleries and public spaces while hearing tales of unexplained happenings, whispered encounters and mysterious shadows said to have been experienced within the building. The guided format offers visitors an entirely different perspective on the Museum’s art, culture and natural history collections by exploring the folklore surrounding them.
A One-Hour Guided Halloween Experience
Each Haunted ROM Tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and is led by a ROM Host.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early for check-in before gathering in Gloria Chen Court on Level 1, directly in front of the enormous Futalognkosaurus dinosaur skeleton. From there, the group sets off together to uncover the Museum’s darker stories and hidden history.

The Haunted ROM Tour is recommended for ages eight and older and is suitable for adults, families, kids, teens and youth.
Children 14 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult, making this an excellent Halloween outing for families who enjoy spooky storytelling without the frightening intensity of traditional haunted attractions. Tours are presented in English.

The Haunted ROM Tour is offered on select weekends throughout October, with additional tours on Thanksgiving weekend and November 1.

Admission and Meeting Location
The Haunted ROM Tour is $5 per person, in addition to regular Museum admission.
Visitors must purchase general admission to the Museum before participating in the tour. Meeting takes place on Level 1 in Gloria Chen Court, beside the Futalognkosaurus dinosaur, where the ROM Host will greet participants before the experience begins.
