This summer, the Bata Shoe Museum invites families and soccer fans to celebrate the world’s most popular sport with Soccer Sundays: Celebrating World Cultures. Running from June 14 – July 19, 2026, the free six-part Sunday series combines live entertainment, hands-on activities and cultural programming inspired by the international soccer tournament arriving in Toronto this summer.

Taking place from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Bata Shoe Museum, located at 327 Bloor Street West, the weekly event explores how soccer connects communities and cultures across the globe. Designed for visitors of all ages, the programme blends education, creativity and entertainment in a lively museum setting.

Family-Friendly Activities and Performances

Each Soccer Sunday will feature a variety of interactive experiences celebrating the global influence of the game. Visitors can take part in soccer-themed craft activities throughout the afternoon while enjoying access to free-play Foosball tables inside the museum.

At 1:00 p.m., guests can enjoy a live performance showcasing Toronto’s cultural diversity and highlighting countries participating in the international tournament. The rotating performances are expected to include music, dance and cultural presentations reflecting traditions from around the world.

The programme also includes A Brief History of Soccer presentation at 3:00 p.m. The engaging talk explores the origins of the sport, its evolution across continents and its role as a unifying cultural force connecting millions of fans worldwide.

June 21, 2026 – Edward the Juggler / Cirque du Soleil Performer
Toronto performer Edward the Juggler brings high-energy comedy, circus skills and interactive fun to Soccer Sundays. Featuring magic, physical comedy and impressive soccer-ball juggling, this family-friendly performance celebrates the playful connection between sport, movement and live entertainment.

June 28, 2026 – Ritmo Flamenco
Ritmo Flamenco brings the energy and artistry of traditional Spanish flamenco to Soccer Sundays. Audiences can experience passionate dance, powerful footwork and vibrant music celebrating culture, rhythm and the spirited traditions connecting communities through performance.

July 5, 2026 – Mexican Folk Ballet

July 19, 2026 – Indian Dance
Shivani Joshi and her dance troupe bring the colour and energy of Indian folk dance to Soccer Sundays through vibrant choreography, expressive storytelling and traditional music celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage and strong community spirit.

Admission to Soccer Sundays is free, though regular museum admission may apply for exhibition access. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early for performances and activities.
