Enjoy Nature at Royal Botanical Gardens and Nature Interpretive Centre March Break Camp

March 16 – 20, 2026
Nature Interpretive Centre in Dundas and the RBG Centre in Burlington

This March Break, the Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG) invites children aged 5 to 12 to join a dynamic day camp full of nature-based activities from March 16 to March 20, 2026. Set across RBG’s stunning natural spaces in Hamilton and Burlington, Ontario, the camp blends education, exploration and fun for young adventurers.

Whether you sign up for a single day or the full week, campers spend their time engaged in hands-on discovery, hiking trails, playing games, following animal tracks and connecting with the natural environment. The program is designed to foster curiosity and deepen appreciation for the outdoors through immersive, age-appropriate activities.

Camp Logistics and Registration

Camp runs Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with drop-off beginning at 8:30 a.m. and pick-up until 4:30 p.m. Extended care is available for an additional fee if families need earlier drop-off or later pick-up times.

Registration opens online and includes options for individual days or the full week at different price points. RBG members may access a member presale, and all participants must register in advance due to limited capacity and high demand.

What Campers Will Do

Days are structured around inquiry-based and experiential learning, which encourages campers to ask questions and discover answers through exploration. Activities include:

  • Nature hikes and wildlife spotting through forested trails and gardens
  • Interactive games and group activities to build friendship and teamwork
  • Creative experiences that inspire imagination and artistic expression
  • Active outdoor play for physical health and engagement

Camp leaders are trained and experienced in child development and environmental education, ensuring a safe, welcoming and memorable experience for every participant.

Preparing for Camp

Parents are encouraged to pack a litter-less, nut-free lunch, snacks and plenty of water. Since much of the day is spent outside, weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy footwear and labelled personal items are essential. Electronics and toys should remain at home so campers can fully engage with their environment.

Two Great Locations

RBG’s March Break Camp takes place at two convenient sites: the Nature Interpretive Centre in Dundas and the RBG Centre in Burlington. Both locations offer the same engaging programming, with activities tailored to each age group’s interests and abilities.

With outdoor learning at its heart, Royal Botanical Gardens’ March Break Camp is a wonderful way for children to explore nature, make new friends and create lasting memories.
