Halloween Magic Awaits: ScaryFest at Markham Museum
October 25 – 26, 2025
Markham Museum, 9350 Markham Rd.
As October’s shadows lengthen, Markham Museum readies itself to bewitch and delight with ScaryFest, presented by the Friends of Markham Museum. This enchanting Halloween celebration transforms the museum’s 25-acre grounds into a family-friendly haunt, filled with whimsy, wonder, and just the right dose of spookiness.
A Spooktacular Day for Families
ScaryFest is crafted especially for young ghouls and goblins (roughly ages 10 and under) and encourages families to arrive in costume to fully embrace the festive spirit. Guests can meander through themed zones, trick-or-treat among costumed characters, and join in a variety of hands-on, age-appropriate activities. Expect enchanting surprises such as a fortune-teller’s tent, a Monster Mash dance party, craft stations, interactive games, and assorted spectacles across the site.
The event runs over a weekend, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the last entry at 4 p.m., allowing plenty of time for families to explore at their own pace. Tickets are sold by timed entry slots to manage attendance and ensure a smooth experience for all visitors. Admission is about CAD $14 per person, although children under 24 months are admitted free (and require no ticket).
Supporting Local Culture and Heritage
By purchasing a membership to Markham Museum, you not only gain complimentary admission to signature events like ScaryFest, but also receive discounts on camps, birthday parties, gift shop purchases, and more. Membership is among the most meaningful ways to support the museum’s mission of preserving and interpreting local heritage.
Whether you’re a local family or a visitor from farther afield, ScaryFest offers a safe, creative and immersive Halloween experience. It captures the magic of fall in Markham — combining historic charm, playful fright, and community spirit under one spectral roof. Don your costume, bring your treat bag, and prepare to wander through a Halloween wonderland that’s spooky without being scary. For families looking to create lasting seasonal traditions, ScaryFest is the kind of event children remember for years. Book your tickets early to avoid disappointment and ensure a magical, memory-filled autumn outing.
