March Break 2026 at the Bata Shoe Museum – Fun for the Whole Family!

March 16 – 21, 2026 | 10 to 4 pm
Bata Shoe Museum, 327 Bloor St. W.

March Break takes on a creative edge at the Bata Shoe Museum with Art/Wear March Break, running from March 16 to March 21, 2026. Timed as a final opportunity to experience the popular Art/Wear: Sneakers x Artists exhibition before it closes, this week-long programme invites visitors of all ages to explore the intersection of footwear, fashion, and contemporary art in an engaging and accessible way.

Hands-On Creativity for All Ages

Designed as a drop-in, self-guided experience, Art/Wear March Break encourages creativity through hands-on activities that blend artistic expression with sneaker culture. Throughout the day, visitors can personalise their style by making custom shoe pins, experimenting with lace beading, and collecting playful shoe charms to refresh their favourite footwear. These interactive stations are suitable for all skill levels, making them ideal for families, young creatives, and anyone curious about how art influences everyday fashion.

Participants are free to explore at their own pace, returning to favourite activities or discovering new ones as the day unfolds. The relaxed format allows visitors to combine crafting with time spent exploring the museum’s galleries, creating a well-rounded and enjoyable March Break outing.

Guided Tours and Design Inspiration

Beyond the craft tables, the programme offers guided exhibition tours that provide deeper insight into the history and cultural impact of sneaker collaborations. Led by knowledgeable museum guides, these tours explore how artists, designers, and brands have transformed sneakers into powerful symbols of identity, creativity, and social influence. The tours are thoughtfully paced, making them accessible for both first-time visitors and returning guests.

Adding to the experience is the Be a Shoe Designer session, where participants are invited to sketch their own original sneaker concepts. Guided by education staff, these presentations offer a behind-the-scenes look at the design process, from initial inspiration to final product. Finished designs can be displayed on the community design board, with entries eligible for a prize draw, adding an extra layer of excitement.

Art/Wear March Break runs daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Bata Shoe Museum, located at 327 Bloor Street West. Scheduled programming includes guided exhibition tours at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm, and Be a Shoe Designer sessions at 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm, with each activity lasting between 45 minutes and one hour.

Included with general admission, this creative March Break experience offers an inspiring blend of art, culture, and hands-on fun. Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times, making it an ideal choice for families seeking an enriching school holiday activity.
