Lulaworld Festival Celebrates 20 Years of Global Rhythms at Lula Lounge

May 11 – 17, 2026
Lula Lounge, Toronto

From May 11 to 17, 2026, Toronto’s beloved Lula Lounge will once again pulse with music, movement, and cultural celebration as the Lulaworld Festival marks its 20th anniversary. Over seven vibrant nights, audiences can experience an eclectic blend of salsa, jazz, timba, boogaloo, samba, baile funk, Afro-bop, cumbia, and soul performed by artists from Toronto and around the world.

This milestone edition shines a spotlight on Cuban artists and musical traditions, honouring the profound influence Cuban music has had on Lula Lounge throughout its nearly 25-year history. The festival’s programming reflects the venue’s longstanding commitment to culturally rooted music and artistic exchange, while celebrating the rhythms that continue to shape Toronto’s diverse live music scene.

A Celebration of Cuban Musical Influence

Cuban music remains at the heart of this year’s festival, highlighting the sounds and traditions that have helped define Lula Lounge since its early years. As conversations surrounding Cuba once again enter the international spotlight, the festival offers an opportunity to appreciate the country’s enduring artistic influence on global music and dance culture.

Festival organisers are also celebrating a new chapter for the venue. This is the first Lulaworld Festival, presented in partnership with the new venue owners, Sasha Khan and Oscar Torres. Longtime staff and supporters have welcomed the pair as they continue the grassroots traditions established by former owners José Ortega and José Nieves.
