Fan Expo Canada: Toronto’s Pop-Culture Spectacle

FAN EXPO Canada 2027 Returns to Toronto for Four Days of Pop-Culture Fandom

August 26 – 29, 2027
Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 255 Front St W, Toronto

Toronto will once again become a gathering place for superheroes, gamers, anime fans, cosplayers, collectors and celebrity watchers when FAN EXPO Canada 2027 returns to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from August 26–29.

Recognized as Canada’s largest comics, sci-fi, horror, anime and gaming event, FAN EXPO Canada has grown from a small comic convention attracting about 1,500 attendees into one of North America’s largest pop-culture gatherings. Organizers now expect more than 135,000 fans to take part in the four-day event.

The 2027 celebrity and creator lineup has not yet been announced, but visitors can expect the familiar mix of celebrity appearances, autograph sessions, professional photo opportunities, panels, cosplay, gaming, comics, anime programming and an enormous marketplace filled with collectibles and fan merchandise.

Celebrity Encounters and Fan Q&As

For many attendees, meeting a favourite actor, voice performer or creator is one of the highlights of FAN EXPO Canada. The convention traditionally features celebrity Q&A sessions where fans can hear behind-the-scenes stories and ask questions directly. Autograph sessions and professional photo ops give visitors another opportunity to meet participating guests throughout the weekend.

Previous editions have welcomed major names including Patrick Stewart, William Shatner, Christopher Lloyd, Elijah Wood, Carrie Fisher, Gillian Anderson and numerous stars from television, film and popular genre franchises.

The 2027 guest list will be announced closer to the event.

Cosplay Takes Over Downtown Toronto

Cosplay remains one of FAN EXPO Canada’s most visible traditions. Throughout the weekend, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre transforms into a colourful parade of characters inspired by comics, anime, gaming, movies and television.

Visitors don’t have to compete or even dress up to enjoy it. For many fans, simply wandering the convention floor and discovering elaborate handmade costumes has become part of the FAN EXPO experience.

Comics, Anime and Gaming

Comic fans can meet creators, browse hard-to-find issues and original artwork, and explore Artist Alley, while anime programming gives fans a chance to celebrate favourite series, characters and voice performers.

Gaming also remains a major part of the event, with booths, guests and interactive experiences expected throughout the convention.

Shopping is another major attraction. FAN EXPO Canada reports more than 1,000 exhibitors, giving attendees access to comics, collectibles, toys, artwork, apparel, games and specialty merchandise.

FAN EXPO Canada 2024

A Toronto Tradition for Pop-Culture Fans

Part of FAN EXPO Canada’s appeal is that it brings so many fandoms under one roof. A visitor might spend one hour meeting a television actor, the next browsing original comic art, then head to an anime event, gaming area or cosplay gathering.
