2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Waterstreet Blues Band
Waterstreet Blues Band delivers original modern blues with a rockin’ party groove – and a side order of Louisiana Spice! They’ve performed at every major blues festival in Ontario such as Kitchener Blues, Southside Shuffle, West Coast Blues, Lighthouse Blues, Orangeville Blues & Jazz and more. They’ve shared the stage with local and national blues luminaries. Waterstreet was a finalist in the 2020 International Blues & Roots Songwriting Competition and released a new album “Talkin’ About” to great reviews and independent radio play across North America and Europe, to quote Hot Wax Album Review: “They’re ready to party right out of the gate!”
4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Andre´Bisson Band
Andre´ Bisson is bringing a six-piece band to Thorold. With a career that spans over 20 years, his musical resume includes 10 studio albums, countless awards, and sold-out shows across Canada, US, UK, and Europe. Thorold’s enthusiastic reaction to their previous Rock N Blues appearance earned them a return visit this year.
6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Steve Marriner & Local Electric
Steve Marriner is bringing an All-Star band to Thorold showcasing no less than five of Canada’s premiere performers! Marriner, vocals, harp, and guitar is a member of the Colin James Band and frontman for MonkeyJunk. Steve is a Juno Winner and has 7 Maple Blues Awards. Jimmy Bowskill, vocals guitar has been among Canada’s leading blues artists since Jeff Healey was invited to play in his club at the age of 11. Jimmy has played with The Sheepdogs and Blue Rodeo. He has toured with Joe Bonamassa and Jeff Beck. Jesse O’Brien, with multiple keyboard player of the year awards, is known as a member of the Colin James Band. Jesse has worked with King Biscuit Boy, Ian Gillan of Deep Purple and Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath. Blake Manning is a drummer, percussionist and vocalist who has spent his entire career working with Canada’s top artists. Blake has toured all over the world with everyone from David Wilcox, Matthew Good, Andy Kim, Ron Sexsmith, Alex Lifeson “Rush” to Rodriguez “searching for Sugar Man”. Blake has also played on hundreds of albums during his career and continues to do so. Darcy Yates – Bass – played with The Great Lakes Swimmers, The Flathead Noodlers, The Smokin’ Losers, and Flash Lightnin’. Darcy adds bass, double bass, electric bass, and backing vocals to the band.
8 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Derek Miller
Multiple Juno Winner Derek Miller and his trio will rock the stage to finish out day one of Rock N Blues on the Battlefield. Miller from Six Nations has a unique take on roots rock and soul-stirring blues. He is a force of musical nature. With 17 albums to his credit, Miller has shared a stage with artists such as Blood, Sweat & Tears, George Thorogood, Smokey Robinson and The Neville Brothers. Canada’s Olympic Committee, wanting an artist that reflected Canada’s roots, hired Miller to rock the crowds at the Closing Ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. In addition to recording with Willie Nelson, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Daniel Lanois, among many other talented artists across the globe, Derek has also recorded for the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian, resulting in the 2016 JUNO-nominated album Rumble: A Tribute To Native Music Icons. Most recently, Buffy asked the guitarist to play on her 2015 Polaris prize and Juno-winning album Power In The Blood.
MONDAY JULY 1
4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Orangeman
New to the Thorold stage Orangeman is no stranger to Southern Ontario. They have been a fixture on the Greater Toronto and Southern Ontario club circuit since their inception in Sept. 2003. Putting on a non-stop show featuring top party songs from every era, Orangeman‘s music is played to perfection. Consummate Showmen their strong vocals are matched only by their fun, colourful and outgoing personalities. Featuring four lead vocalists, Vitamin C, OJ, Twist and drummer Squeeze, Orangeman brings the party each and every night. From clubs to concerts to corporate events to private parties, Orangeman provides each event with a unique and fun ‘twist’.
6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. The Figure Four
The Figure Four has been named Niagara’s Favourite Party Band several times in several places. Calling themselves “primarily a weekend rock and roll band, they have a reputation of playing without set lists, preferring instead to perform as many requests as possible in as many genres as possible. Members Michael ‘Mic’ Chess (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Nick “Nickname” Parisotto lead guitarist (formerly with The Associates and Saturday Night Special). Rob ‘Uncle Bobby’ Carroll (bass guitar and vocals), and Chris ‘Burny’ Burnett (drums and vocals). With a strong Thorold connection, both Mic and Burny grew up here, they are certainly no stranger to Niagara nor the Battle of Beaverdams stage.
8 p.m. – 10 p.m. Vinyl Flux
This band is a Niagara favourite and has proven it time and time again: Three-time winners of Best Bar Band at the Niagara Music Awards, they are made up of a group of accomplished and professional musicians who strive for accurate replication of every song they play. Performing songs from some of the greatest classic rock artists of our time, their repertoire features note-for-note renditions of artists such as Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, Aerosmith, Foreigner, Bowie, ZZ Top, The Eagles, Pink Floyd and so many other musical heroes that inspired generations of great musicians. They are the perennial closer of Thorold’s Canada Day festivities, marking their 5th straight appearance this year.
