August 1 – October 18, 2026
Various Ontario Cities
Every year, Doors Open Ontario offers residents and visitors a rare opportunity to step inside some of the province’s most fascinating places. From historic theatres and fire halls to breweries, museums, churches, lighthouses and civic buildings, the 2026 season promises another exciting journey through Ontario’s rich architectural and cultural heritage.
Running from August through October, Doors Open Ontario 2026 will welcome visitors to communities across the province, providing free access to sites that are often closed to the public or seldom explored in depth. Organised through local partnerships and heritage organisations, the programme continues to be one of Ontario’s most popular cultural experiences.
Discover Ontario’s Stories
The annual initiative encourages people to see familiar places in a new light while uncovering hidden stories that have helped shape communities across the province. Visitors can participate in guided tours, heritage walks, demonstrations, exhibitions and interactive activities designed to showcase local history, innovation and community pride.
Whether exploring a century-old theatre, climbing the steps of a historic lighthouse or learning about the inner workings of a municipal building, Doors Open Ontario offers unique access that is unavailable during most of the year.
The programme also highlights the importance of preserving Ontario’s heritage while making it accessible to future generations. Many participating sites feature volunteers, historians and community leaders who share fascinating insights into the people and events that shaped their regions.
