FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre Presents 2026 SPARK Gala Featuring The National Ballet of Canada
October 24, 2026 | 8 p.m.
Partridge Hall, FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre, St. Catharines
In Support of Niagara’s Art and Cultural Programs
The FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre will bring an exceptional evening of dance, dining and community celebration to downtown St. Catharines this autumn. The 2026 SPARK Gala takes place on October 24, 2026, with a special performance by The National Ballet of Canada in Partridge Hall.
This year’s gala marks a significant first for the city. The internationally recognised ballet company will perform in St. Catharines for the first time. The evening will also help raise funds to support arts and cultural programming across Niagara.
The National Ballet of Canada Comes to Niagara
The performance will celebrate The National Ballet of Canada’s 75th anniversary season. Audiences will see the Balcony Pas de Deux from John Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet. In addition, the programme features The Future at 75, performed by the company’s RBC Apprentices.
Founded by Celia Franca in 1951, The National Ballet of Canada has grown into one of the country’s most important cultural institutions. Today, the company includes 70 dancers and its own orchestra. Artistic Director Hope Muir has led the company since 2022. Its repertoire ranges from classical full-length ballets to contemporary productions and world premieres.
An Evening of Food, Wine and Performance
Guests can choose from three SPARK Gala experiences.
- The $325 Torchbearer experience begins at 5 p.m. with a VIP cocktail reception in Robertson Theatre. Niagara wines and craft beers will be featured. Guests will then enjoy a pre-show dinner prepared by Treadwell Cuisine. Torchbearer guests will also have access to a live fundraising auction.
- The $200 Flame experience begins at 7 p.m. in the Algoma Lobby. It includes a cocktail reception with Niagara wines, passed hors d’oeuvres and access to the online SPARK auction.
- Meanwhile, the $100 Ember experience includes admission to the 8 p.m. National Ballet performance in Partridge Hall. All ticket prices are inclusive.
Supporting Arts and Culture in Niagara
Beyond the celebration, SPARK has an important purpose. Funds raised through the gala help the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre provide diverse and accessible cultural experiences for the community.
For more than a decade, the Centre has played a growing role in Niagara’s arts scene. Through performances, creative programming and community initiatives, it continues to provide opportunities for audiences and artists to connect.
The 2026 SPARK Gala combines that mission with a rare opportunity to experience one of Canada’s leading dance companies close to home.
