Lumière: The Art of Light returns to Ontario Place this winter and early spring, offering visitors a magical outdoor art experience in Trillium Park. Running from February 16 to March 27, 2026, this free exhibition transforms the park after dark with bold, imaginative installations created by Ontario-based artists working across diverse artistic styles and media. Lumière invites guests of all ages to explore how light can be shaped into art that inspires curiosity, wonder and connection.

An Immersive Evening Experience

The exhibition is open nightly from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, making it the perfect evening outing for families, friends and art lovers alike. Alongside the light installations, visitors can warm up around bonfires at the Trillium Park fire pit on opening weekend and throughout March Break (weather permitting), adding a cozy atmosphere to this vibrant outdoor showcase.

Exploring the Art of Light

Lumière’s 2026 edition centres on the theme “Rhythms of Light: Motion, Sound, and Time,” encouraging artists to reinterpret light as an expressive medium that can evoke movement, emotion and interactive engagement. The exhibition weaves light, form and sound together, prompting exploration of the natural rhythms that surround us.

Walking through the park at night, visitors will encounter a series of luminous installations created specifically for this event. Each piece uses light in unique ways—some glow softly with ambient colour, others pulse and shift in response to their surroundings or inspire reflection on the passage of time. Highlights include:

  • Arbour by MattCreative – a sculptural light form that blends organic shapes with radiant colour.
  • Blueberry Babies Signal Path by Winta (Wintana) Hagos – a playful installation that guides visitors through light and shadow.
  • Constellation Range by Jordan Shaw – light pieces that evoke the night sky.
  • Echoes of Light by Jordan St. Claire – an installation exploring echoes in illumination.
  • Möbius Ensemble by Bitbrainz – dynamic light forms inspired by motion.
  • Other works such as PORTAL, Rhythms of Chaos, Ripples in Time and Urbanombre add depth and variety to the experience.

Family-Friendly and Free

One of the most exciting aspects of Lumière: The Art of Light is that it’s free to attend, inviting everyone to interact with contemporary public art in a relaxed outdoor setting. Whether you’re strolling through illuminated paths, pausing to reflect at a glowing sculpture, or gathering around a fire pit with friends, Lumière brings light, art and community together in a memorable way.
