In Support of Haul for Hope Program
Hope Air is once again bringing the community together for its signature fundraiser, Haul for Hope, on Saturday, September 12 2026, at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ). This thrilling event invites teams of colleagues, friends, and families to take on the ultimate test of teamwork: pulling a 67,000-lb Porter Airlines aircraft a distance of 75 metres. Beyond the spectacle of strength and determination, every pull helps raise critical funds for patients who must travel long distances to access essential medical care.
Meeting Growing Demand for Medical Travel
The fundraiser comes at a crucial time for Hope Air. In 2024, the charity supported a record 13,721 patient flights across Canada, with 1,512 of those flights passing through Billy Bishop Airport, making it the second busiest hub in the country for its services. Demand continues to rise in 2025, with projections of a further 7% increase in flights needed by patients. For many Canadians living in remote or underserved regions, these flights represent the only way to receive life-saving care without facing financial hardship.
Community Partners at the Heart of the Event
The success of Haul for Hope is made possible through the partnership of PortsToronto and Nieuport Aviation, both of whom play a vital role in hosting the fundraiser at Billy Bishop Airport. Their commitment, alongside the dedication of volunteers and participants, ensures the event runs smoothly while raising awareness of the growing demand for equitable medical travel.
How to Get Involved
Over 20 teams will gather on the tarmac for this year’s challenge, but the event is not just for those pulling planes. Spectators are invited to cheer on the teams, take in the atmosphere, and show their support for Hope Air’s mission. Whether by donating, sponsoring a team, or spreading the word, every contribution makes a difference in ensuring patients can reach the care they urgently need.
By taking part in Haul for Hope, the community is not just pulling a plane—it is helping to lift barriers to healthcare for thousands of Canadians.
