Christmas takes on a nostalgic glow aboard Waterloo Central Railway, where heritage train rides become festive journeys filled with lights, music, storytelling and holiday surprises. During the 2026 season, three distinct Christmas train experiences offer something for families, children and adults looking for a memorable night out.
Departing from the St. Jacobs Farmers Market Station, the heritage railway travels along the Winter Line, creating a unique way to experience the holiday season. Each journey lasts approximately one hour and combines the charm of vintage rail travel with festive entertainment.

Passengers encounter a cast of railway and woodland characters who bring the journey to life through playful interactions and holiday stories. There are festive surprises throughout the ride, along with a special visit from Santa.
Guests can choose between traditional Coach seating and the more spacious Lounge Car. Every passenger receives a special holiday gift, with an additional extra-special gift provided to Lounge Car guests.

December 3 – 5, 10 – 12, 17 – 19, 2026
For guests aged 19 and over, Santa’s Night Cap – The Last Call Limited turns the Christmas train into a festive night out.

Plan a Christmas Train Adventure
All three Christmas experiences depart from Waterloo Central Railway’s Farmers Market Station at 330 Farmers Market Road in St. Jacobs, located between the St. Jacobs Farmers Market and the Value Village Shopping Centre. Free parking is available in the adjacent Value Village parking lot.
Washrooms, including an accessible washroom and baby-changing station, are available aboard the train. Guests are encouraged to book early because seating is limited. The railway also recommends wearing Christmas pyjamas or an “ugly” Christmas sweater to add to the festive fun.
Waterloo Central Railway is a not-for-profit heritage railway dedicated to preserving and maintaining historic railway equipment. A Christmas train ride therefore offers more than seasonal entertainment—it also helps support the railway’s ongoing heritage work.
