UpFRONT Festival 2026 Celebrates Indigenous Arts, Music and Culture in Downtown Toronto

August 14 – 16, 2026
Scott Street & Berczy Park

The UpFRONT Festival of Indigenous Arts, Music and Culture returns to Toronto from August 14 to 16, 2026, transforming Scott Street, Berczy Park and the surrounding area into a vibrant gathering place celebrating Indigenous creativity. Presented by TO Live, the free outdoor festival invites visitors to experience outstanding performances, visual arts, storytelling and family-friendly activities in the heart of the city.

The annual event showcases Indigenous artists from across Toronto and Turtle Island, creating opportunities for audiences to learn, connect and celebrate through music, culture and community. With no admission fee, the festival offers an accessible way for residents and visitors to experience Indigenous traditions and contemporary artistic expression.

Live Music Takes Centre Stage

Music remains one of the festival’s biggest highlights. Throughout the weekend, audiences can enjoy performances by acclaimed Indigenous artists including Drezus, Crystal Shawanda, Tom Wilson Tehohàhake Trio, Don Amero, Mimi O’Bonsawin, Adrian Sutherland and many more. The programme blends contemporary Indigenous music with traditional influences, creating an energetic atmosphere across multiple outdoor stages.

In addition to concerts, visitors can experience dance performances, comedy, puppetry and other live entertainment that celebrates the richness and diversity of Indigenous cultures. Every performance offers a unique perspective while highlighting both emerging and established Indigenous talent.

Art, Culture and Family Activities

Beyond the music, the festival offers numerous opportunities to explore Indigenous arts and traditions. Guests can browse an Indigenous artisan marketplace featuring handcrafted jewellery, artwork, textiles and other unique creations made by Indigenous makers.

Families will also find plenty to enjoy. Children’s programming includes puppet performances, interactive activities, storytelling sessions, live dance presentations and educational experiences designed to engage younger audiences. Meanwhile, live mural artists will transform the exterior of the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts into a colourful public gallery throughout the festival weekend.

Visitors can also participate in intimate author talks and cultural discussions that encourage learning and meaningful conversations about Indigenous history, identity and artistic expression.

UpFRONT Festival continues to grow as one of Toronto’s most significant celebrations of Indigenous arts and culture. Its welcoming atmosphere encourages visitors of all backgrounds to experience music, food, art and storytelling while supporting Indigenous artists, performers and businesses.
