Wolf Centre at Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve

March 10 – 13, 2024
Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve, 1305 Redkenn Road, Haliburton Forest

The Wolf Centre is a 5,000 square foot, all-indoor facility that houses self-guided, museum-style exhibits, a cinema and classroom, a souvenir shop, and a large indoor observatory, and it is wheelchair accessible! Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve staff are onsite to answer any questions you may have, so don’t be shy! The wolves are viewed through one-way glass from inside the building. Visit the observatory and maybe catch a glimpse of Haliburton Forest’s wolf pack: permanent residents of Haliburton Forest since 1993.

March 10, 11, 15, 17 @ 1:30 pm – Tracks, Scat & Snowshoes
Duration: 2 hrs
Physical Challenge Rating: This activity involves snowshoeing off trails through potentially deep snow.

Learn how to identify animals by the tracks and scat they leave behind. This program begins with a lesson on identifying and matching the tracks and scat of local wildlife to the animals who made them. Then, your guide will lead you on a snowshoe hike to search for tracks and scat in the snow to put your knowledge to use.

Snowshoes are provided, or you can bring your own. This program is best suited for ages 10+.

Wolf Centre cannot guarantee that tracks or scat will be found during the snowshoe hike. While there are often lots of fresh tracks in the snow, consider it a bonus along your hike to find signs of wildlife.
