Wanda Sykes returns to Toronto on September 20, 2024, with her latest comedy tour – “Please & Thank You” – the veteran stand-up comedian’s first major tour in six years.
Wanda Sykes is an incredibly talented comedian, actress, and writer known for her sharp wit and fearless humour. She’s made a significant mark in stand-up comedy, television, and film. Sykes gained prominence as a writer for “The Chris Rock Show,” and later appeared in several comedy specials of her own. Her comedy often delves into social and political commentary, addressing issues of race, gender, and sexuality with intelligence and humour. She’s also known for her roles in TV shows like “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and “Black-ish,” as well as in films such as “Monster-in-Law” and “Evan Almighty.”
Beyond her entertainment career, Sykes is also an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ rights and other social causes. She’s been recognized with numerous awards for her contributions to comedy and entertainment. Overall, she’s a powerhouse in the world of comedy and a voice for social change.
This event will be a phone-free experience. Use of phones, smartwatches, and accessories will not be permitted in the performance space. Upon arrival at the venue, all phones, smartwatches, and accessories will be secured in individual Yondr pouches that will be opened at the end of the event. Guests maintain possession of their devices at all times and can access them throughout the event only in designated phone-use areas within the venue. All devices will be re-secured in Yondr pouches before returning to the performance space. Anyone seen using a device (phone, smartwatch or accessories) during the performance will be escorted out of the venue.
