Live Nation Canada Opens Rogers Stadium: Toronto’s Largest Outdoor Concert Venue
Live Nation Canada has officially opened Rogers Stadium, a state-of-the-art seasonal outdoor concert venue designed to host the world’s biggest touring acts. With a 50,000-person capacity, it is now the Greater Toronto Area’s largest purpose-built music venue, further establishing the city as a must-play destination on the international concert circuit.
Strategically located at YZD (formerly Downsview Airport Lands), the venue offers excellent connectivity to 400-series highways and public transit. Rogers Stadium is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the region, generating thousands of jobs, boosting local tourism and businesses, and contributing an estimated $80–$100 million to the economy.
A New Era for Live Music in Toronto
Constructed with sustainability at its core, Rogers Stadium delivers a unique open-air experience tailored to modern audiences. “We’ve made this investment to ensure that fans in Toronto don’t miss out on world-class artists,” said Erik Hoffman, President of Music at Live Nation Canada. “With an unprecedented surge in stadium-level tours, Rogers Stadium allows us to meet growing demand while creating a next-level experience for fans.”
As part of its sustainability and accessibility efforts, Live Nation Canada is offering free rides home on TTC and GO Transit after each of the 14 concerts scheduled this summer. Fans can board subways at Sheppard West, Downsview Park, and Wilson stations, or take GO trains from Downsview Park Station. Both the TTC and Metrolinx will run extra service on show nights to help manage crowds and ease congestion.
Powered by Innovation: 5G+ and Fan Perks
Enhancing the high-tech atmosphere, Rogers has invested $5.2 million to bring 5G+ technology to the venue, installing an advanced in-building network and antenna system with coverage comparable to 14 downtown towers.
Rogers is also delivering exclusive fan perks through its Rogers Beyond the Seat programme. Customers will enjoy priority access via a dedicated entrance, as well as Rogers Replay—a personalised video memento that blends user-generated content with professional footage, providing concertgoers with a unique digital keepsake.
Government Support and Transit Partnerships
Government and transit leaders praised the initiative. Premier Doug Ford and Mayor Olivia Chow both highlighted the stadium’s economic and cultural significance, as well as its emphasis on safe, accessible transit. TTC CEO Greg Percy confirmed enhanced staffing and services to support a seamless concert experience.
