The creative spirit of Mississauga will take centre stage once again as the 2026 Mississauga Arts Awards, widely known as The MARTYS, return for another unforgettable evening celebrating the city’s thriving arts and culture community. Hosted by the Mississauga Arts Council, the prestigious awards gala will take place on June 18, 2026, at the Mississauga Convention Centre.

Recognised as one of Canada’s largest civic arts award celebrations, The MARTYS honour the individuals, performers, organisations and cultural leaders who continue to shape Mississauga’s creative identity. From music and theatre to visual arts, film, dance and literature, the awards showcase the remarkable artistic talent that exists throughout the city.

A Celebration of Artistic Achievement

Now marking its 31st year, The MARTYS have become an important tradition within Mississauga’s cultural calendar. The annual event shines a spotlight on both established and emerging artists whose work contributes to the growth and vitality of the local arts scene.

Award categories span a broad range of disciplines, including theatre arts, dance, literary arts, music, film and visual arts. Independent juries composed of arts professionals and community leaders evaluate nominations and select finalists based on artistic excellence, creativity and impact.

In addition to artistic achievement awards, The MARTYS also recognise outstanding community contributions through honours such as the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Laurie Pallett Patron of the Arts Award and the Hazel McCallion Volunteer of the Year Award. These distinctions celebrate individuals and organisations that have strengthened Mississauga’s arts sector through advocacy, leadership and community involvement.

Red Carpet Glamour Meets Community Spirit

The MARTYS are known not only for recognising artistic accomplishments, but also for creating a memorable gala experience that brings together artists, supporters, sponsors and cultural advocates from across the region. Guests attending the 2026 edition can expect a red carpet reception, live entertainment, dinner and the highly anticipated awards presentation.

Over the years, the event has grown into a major cultural celebration that reflects the diversity and creativity of Mississauga itself. The sold-out 30th anniversary celebration in 2025 welcomed hundreds of attendees and highlighted the continued growth of the city’s artistic community.

Supporting the Future of the Arts

Beyond the glamour of awards night, The MARTYS also serve a larger purpose by helping to raise awareness and support for local arts initiatives. The Mississauga Arts Council continues to advocate for artists through funding opportunities, professional development and community programming designed to strengthen the city’s cultural landscape.

As anticipation builds for the 2026 celebration, The MARTYS once again promise to honour the creativity, passion and dedication that make Mississauga’s arts community so vibrant and inspiring.
