The Barrie Theatre Festival Returns with Six Dynamic Productions
June 4 – 13, 2026
Five Points Theatre, 1 Dunlop Street West, Barrie
Live storytelling, original performances, and creative energy return to downtown Barrie as the Barrie Theatre Festival takes over Five Points Theatre from June 4 to June 13, 2026. Presented by Tourism Barrie, the annual festival transforms the city into a destination for professional live theatre, welcoming audiences for ten days of curated productions, nationally touring artists, and compelling Canadian work.
Held at Five Points Theatre at 1 Dunlop Street West, the festival invites theatre lovers, cultural explorers, weekend travellers, and curious audiences to discover six distinctive productions selected for their artistic excellence and audience appeal.
Unlike traditional fringe events, the Barrie Theatre Festival is fully curated, with each production chosen intentionally to entertain, challenge perspectives, and spark conversation.
Six Productions Bring Comedy, Drama and Movement to the Stage
This year’s lineup offers a diverse mix of theatrical experiences, from comedy and physical theatre to contemporary dance and personal storytelling. Each performance runs under one hour, making it easy for audiences to enjoy multiple productions during a single visit.

A Festival Experience Beyond the Theatre
Throughout the festival, downtown Barrie becomes part of the experience itself. Restaurants, cafés, patios, and local businesses buzz with activity as audiences gather before and after performances.
Whether planning a midweek cultural outing or a full weekend getaway, visitors are encouraged to explore Barrie’s waterfront, dining scene, and vibrant downtown alongside the theatre programming.
The festival atmosphere extends into the streets as conversations continue long after performances end, reinforcing the event’s role as both a cultural celebration and a community gathering space.
