Mississauga Symphony Orchestra 2026–2027 Season Celebrates the Art of Music

Classical Masterworks, Opera, Holiday Favourites and Iconic Film Music Take Centre Stage in Mississauga
The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra (MSO) returns to the Living Arts Centre with a rich and varied 2026–2027 concert season. This year’s programme explores the artistry of the concerto, Mediterranean-inspired music, Romantic masterpieces and the enduring works of Beethoven.
Audiences can also enjoy a fully staged opera, a family-friendly Christmas celebration and an evening devoted to legendary film composer John Williams.
The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra has performed in the city since 1972. Today, it brings together professional musicians and highly skilled community players as one of Mississauga’s leading cultural institutions.
2026 – 2027 Season
The Art of the Concerto
Saturday, October 17, 2026, 7:30 p.m.
The season begins with The Art of the Concerto, featuring acclaimed pianist Roman Rabinovich. He joins the orchestra for Beethoven’s lyrical and expressive Piano Concerto No. 4.
The programme also includes Bartók’s spectacular Concerto for Orchestra. Known for its energy, colour and technical demands, the composition gives every section of the orchestra an opportunity to shine.
The Art of the Mediterranean
Sunday, November 22, 2026, 3 p.m.
Classical guitarist Daniel Bolshoy takes centre stage for Rodrigo’s celebrated Concierto de Aranjuez. The work is admired for its Spanish character and deeply moving central movement.
The afternoon also features Debussy’s evocative La Mer. Together, the selections create a musical journey filled with Mediterranean colour, atmosphere and imagination.
A Merry Little Christmas
Saturday, December 12, 2026, 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The MSO’s popular holiday concert returns for two performances. A Merry Little Christmas brings together musicians from the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra and the Mississauga Symphony Youth Orchestra.
The family-friendly programme features beloved seasonal music, festive favourites and audience sing-alongs. The 4 p.m. performance provides an accessible afternoon option for families, while the 7:30 p.m. concert offers an evening celebration.
Madama Butterfly

Saturday, February 27, 2027, 7:30 p.m.
Opera returns to the Living Arts Centre with a fully staged production of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.
Set in Nagasaki, the opera follows the tragic story of Cio-Cio-San, a young Japanese woman whose love and loyalty are met with devastating betrayal. Puccini’s powerful score, memorable arias and emotional storytelling have made Madama Butterfly one of the world’s most frequently performed operas.
The Art of the Romantics
Saturday, April 3, 2027, 7:30 p.m.
Violin virtuoso Andrew Sords joins the orchestra for Brahms’ magnificent Violin Concerto. The composition combines technical brilliance with the warmth, drama and emotional range associated with the Romantic period.
This Masterworks concert provides an opportunity to experience one of the violin repertoire’s greatest compositions performed live in Mississauga.
The Music of John Williams
Saturday, April 24, 2027, 7:30 p.m.
The MSO celebrates the unforgettable film scores of John Williams, whose music has helped define some of cinema’s most memorable moments.
The Pops programme features music associated with films including Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park and Harry Potter. With sweeping themes, heroic fanfares and instantly recognisable melodies, the concert is designed for dedicated film fans and newcomers to orchestral music alike.
The Art of Beethoven
Saturday, May 29, 2027, 7:30 p.m.
The season concludes with an ambitious celebration of Beethoven. The programme includes his monumental Ninth Symphony and the Triple Concerto.
Soloists Corey Gemmell, Ben Smith and Paul Widner join the MSO for the concerto. Beethoven’s Ninth then brings the season to a powerful conclusion with one of the most influential and uplifting works in classical music.
