Queer Pride Takes Over Buddies in Bad Times Theatre

Queer Pride 2026 Takes Over Buddies in Bad Times Theatre This June

June 5 – 28, 2026
Buddies in Bad Times Theatre

From June 5 – 28, 2026, Toronto’s iconic Buddies in Bad Times Theatre once again becomes the heart of queer artistic celebration as Queer Pride 2026 returns with a month-long programme of performances, cabaret, comedy and community events. Located at 12 Alexander Street in the Church-Wellesley Village, the internationally recognised theatre company continues its tradition of presenting bold and boundary-pushing queer work during Pride season.

As the world’s longest-running queer theatre company, Buddies has spent decades creating space for LGBTQ2S+ voices on stage. Queer Pride remains one of the organisation’s most anticipated annual festivals, bringing together artists and audiences for a celebration that is both entertaining and politically engaged.

A Month of Performances and Pride Programming

Throughout June, Queer Pride 2026 will feature an eclectic schedule of productions and live events spanning theatre, drag, dance, music and spoken word. The programme is designed to reflect the diversity of Toronto’s queer communities while showcasing artists whose work explores identity, resistance, intimacy and joy. The festival’s productions range from experimental theatrical works and contemporary queer storytelling to energetic late-night cabaret and performance art.

Comedy and nightlife programming will once again form a major part of the celebration. Audiences can expect lively drag showcases, themed dance parties and cabaret performances that transform the entire venue into a vibrant Pride gathering space. Previous Buddies Pride events have included full-building takeovers featuring local drag artists, DJs and queer performers from across Toronto.

Community-Focused Events

In addition to staged productions, Queer Pride 2026 will include community-centred events designed to encourage participation and connection. Open mic nights, poetry readings and artist conversations provide opportunities for audiences to engage directly with performers and fellow attendees.

These events help foster the welcoming atmosphere that has become central to Buddies’ identity. The theatre’s emphasis on accessibility, inclusivity and artistic freedom has made it an important cultural hub for generations of queer artists and audiences alike.

An Important Pride Destination in Toronto

Each year, Queer Pride attracts locals and visitors looking for experiences that go beyond traditional Pride celebrations. While large outdoor events remain a major draw across Toronto, Buddies offers something more intimate and artistically driven — a place where queer stories and performance remain at the centre of the experience.

With nearly four weeks of programming scheduled from June 5 to June 28, 2026, Queer Pride once again promises an exciting mix of theatre, nightlife and community celebration in one of Toronto’s most historic queer cultural venues. Full production schedules and ticket details are available through the theatre’s official website.
